Logos, Waveforms and Rooftops: The Art Behind Our Designs

· Style & Merch

Our Arctic Monkeys designs come from four places: the logo, the albums, the songs and a little seventies style. Here's what's printed on them, so you can find the one that suits you.

What's the classic logo?

The slanted, heavy block letters stacked on two lines are the band's best-known mark. We print them plain in Classic Black Logo, Classic White Logo and Classic Gold Logo, and under a cream-and-red guitarist in Guitarist Illustration.

What does the AM waveform mean?

The cover of AM, the 2013 album, shows a wave of peaks and dips: the shape of an amplitude-modulated signal, AM for short. It's on AM Waveform Black and AM Waveform White. The letters themselves get their own pieces too: AM Gold and the two-sided AM Serif, with a giant AM on the back.

Which songs and albums get designs?

  • I Wanna Be Yours Script: the band name on the front and the title of the song that closes AM on the back. Its words are by the poet John Cooper Clarke.
  • The Car Cover, The Car Rooftop, The Car Lettering and The Car Front and Back: the 2022 album, with its photo of a lone white car on a rooftop car park, taken by drummer Matt Helders.
  • Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino: the 2018 album title in thin red segmented letters. Tranquility Base is where Apollo 11 landed in 1969.

What about the retro ones?

Pink Retro Logo, Retro Script Oval, Monkeys Stack, Monkeys Spaced Serif and Colour Block Square play with seventies lettering and bright colour. Stencil Portraits and Studio Sofa Photo put four faces on the front.
